Three Oaks Township Public Library presents The Three Oaks of Three Oaks Saturday, September 16 at 11 am at Three Oaks Township Public Library The Village of Three Oaks, Michigan was named for three oak trees that were left behind after the forests were harvested in the middle 1800’s. Sometime between then and now those trees have disappeared, leaving almost no trace. Robert Tatina’s talk “The Tree Oaks of Three Oaks” attempts to answer these questions: Who were the three oaks? When and where were they last seen? What was the cause of their demise? Tatina’s illustrated presentation, which is based on “The Three Oaks of Three Oaks” published in the October 2016 Michigan History Chronicle by Tatina and Nancy Baird, is an exploration into the botany, history and forensic science that provides answers to those questions. Robert Tatina, Ph. D., is a retired professor of biology and the author of several articles about the flora of the Berrien County. His wife Nancy Baird is a retired elementary teacher. They reside in Sawyer, MI, but visit Three Oaks regularly to attend church, view movies and eat.
